Common Questions


Do I need to install anything?
No installation needed. You receive a single HTML file — double-click it to open in any modern browser (Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Safari). Works on Mac and Windows. No server, no setup.
What docket systems does it work with?
IP Workflow Suite works with any docket system that can export to Excel — Alt Legal, Dockmaster, CPI, and custom spreadsheets. You map your column names once during setup and the tool remembers your format automatically.
How does the deadline auto-calculation work?
Each email template has a Deadline Calc Tag that tells the tool which rule to apply — filing date +6 months, NOA date +6/12/18/24/30 months, registration date +5/10 years, OA mailing date +3/6 months, and more. When you select an action type and the required source date is already filled in, the deadline auto-calculates and shows a green ⏱ confirmation note. You can override any auto-calculated date at any time.
Is my client data safe?
Yes. For Single Firm and Pro, all data is stored entirely in your browser — nothing is sent to any server. No client names, serial numbers, or email content ever leave your device. Docket session data clears when you close the tab (Keep Data is off by default).
Does it work with EUIPO marks?
Yes — you can track both USPTO and EUIPO matters. Enter the mark details, including the EUIPO application number (starting with 018), and your deadlines and emails generate the same way. Automatic auto-fill lookup for USPTO and EUIPO is a Team Edition feature.
Can I send emails for internal review before they go to the client?
Yes — each firm profile has an Email Delivery Mode setting. Switch it to Internal Review First and all generated .eml files open in Outlook with a blank To: field, a [REVIEW] prefix in the subject, and the client name and email shown in an amber block at the top of the email body. The reviewer types in whoever needs to review it — it's not a fixed email address, so different matters can go to different reviewers without any changes to settings.
What if the client email isn't filling in automatically?
When a card has no client email on file, an orange + Add Contact button appears directly on the card. Click it to enter the contact name and email inline — no need to leave the Deadlines tab. The contact saves to your directory and updates the card immediately. Future docket uploads for that owner will auto-fill the email automatically.
What's the annual support plan?
The annual support plan ($97/yr for Single Firm) provides access to all future software updates and priority email support. Without an active plan, you keep the version you purchased but will not receive updates. Support plans are optional and can be added at any time.
